The Mynabirds//Generals 

One of my favorite 60s-inspired girl groups, the Mynabirds, released this single about a week ago. The album Generals will be out on Omaha’s own Saddle Creek records June 5th. High hopes are had by all. 

The band is currently touring the US, mostly in college towns. You can check out the tour dates and possibly be pleasantly surprised by the towns they chose to perform in - I sure was.

And more good news: Anyone interested in downloading this track for themselves can head over to the band’s official website and do the “email in exchange for a free download” dance.

COOLRUNNINGS - Spirit of the High

A google search of COOLRUNNINGS reveals their supposed buzzword, an easy cliché to help listeners put the group’s sound in perspective: weird. 

And maybe it is. In this track, however, the lo-fi is almost overpowering. Almost too much. But just almost. 

The Knoxville group has a few EPs and 7”s on their bandcamp for free, including the track featured in this post, Spirit of the High.
